It seems that Yahoo founder and CEO Jerry Yang may be trying to offload his jet. The Silicon Valley’s gossip clearing house, Valleywag has uncovered a listing over at Controller.com for a 2002 Bombardier Global Express. The jet, housed in Hillsboro, Ore., is for sale by JAY aviation.
Yang’s Yahoo has been the subject of a great deal of take-over speculation in recent weeks and months. Since its most besotted suitor Microsoft finally dropped out just two weeks ago, Yahoo’s shares have tumbled 13 percent and a bevy of the internet giant’s top executives gave notice. Is Yang selling off his Global Express to shore up his flagging Yahoo? Not so, according to Valley Wag. Apparently, he has another plane already on order.
It’s hard to imagine where exactly you can upgrade to from a $40 million Global Express- perhaps he wants to get his hands on the upgraded Global Express XRS with its longer range and advanced avionics. Or maybe he was jealous of the Larry and Sergei over at Google and wanted to get a Boeing 767 or BBJ of his own?
Whatever Yang’s motivations, we wonder why a web-savvy fellow like him didn’t think to list his jet on Halogen Guides Aircraft Marketplace. Controller, after all, is essentially just a web presence for a print catalog. With its streamlined design and integrated widgets which make listing, buying, and selling a private jet easier than ever before, Halogen Guides Aircraft Market Place should be the site of choice for any self respecting Silicon Valley entrepreneur.
