What with all the recent press in light of a think-tank report trying to pin the blame for global warming, poor commercial airline performance and the disappearance of the tooth fairy on private aviation, it’s nice to see a positive story about private jets make its way into the popular media.
Apparently golfer Phil Mickelson, in Scotland ahead of the British open, missed an engagement with the winners of a Calloway competition to meet the former Masters champion. Mickelson decided to send out his Gulfstream to pick up the disappointed fans, who had gathered in London from all over Europe. The ten lucky winners were flown on Phil’s dime to Liverpool, where they met the amiable golfer and were treated to a day of lessons.
The moral here is clear, private flyers: All you need to do to clear the bad press surrounding the industry is give out a few free rides every once in a while!
