In the high-speed, high-money world of Formula One Racing, no publicity stunt is too shameless in the name of more cash. Recently, F1 phenom and last year’s runner-up Lewis Hamilton fulfilled his “brand ambassador” duties for Bombardier by inspecting their Learjet 60 XR , flashing some smiles, and then “racing” his Mclaren-Mercedes F1 car against the jet.
While the Learjet has a top speed of over 500 mph and the Mclaren mere 200+, somehow they put up a good race. Watch the video to see the race…
Yep. In a “race” with the plane going as slow as it could without stalling, the car accelerated and passed the jet from a dead stop. Regardless, it’s fun to watch cars race jets, so here’s to shameless PR demonstrations!
