Senator Barack Obama has upgraded aircraft several times as his campaign for President has gathered steam. Obama has flown on a hodgepodge of planes through the grueling primary and into this summer’s general election cycle, from chartered Gulfstreams to Boeing 737s and McDonnell Douglas MD-80s. The Illinois Senator has had his share of bad luck in the air and on the tarmac. A plane Obama was riding in clipped the wing of another aircraft on the ground and earlier this month his plane was forced into an unscheduled landing due to an overactive evacuation slide. Now, as he pulls in more campaign donations than ever, he apparently has decided to put last month’s $52 million to good use on a proper jet.
No mere medium-sized charter jet, the Obama campaign rolled out a custom-painted Boeing 757 on Sunday, ready to catch up with the presumptive Democratic nominee who had already embarked on a tour of the Middle East and Europe. Adorned with his “sunrise” logo on the tail and “Change We Can Believe In” across both sides, the 757 has the first class section organized expressly for the candidate and his campaign staff, while the coach section is set up to seat 41 members of the press corps.
No word on how long the campaign has reserved the expensive 757 charter, but with just a few months left until the election, it’s a safe bet that he’ll have it until he either claims Air Force One or catches a one-way flight back to Chicago.

What is wrong with an America that would allow such an anti-American to even RUN for the highest office in the land??????

This is ludicrous! He tore off the American flag logo to put his own picture on the tail!!! I believe this "change" he's referring to in his campaign is truly the end of the world. This "man" is going to be the end of us all...I'm moving to Canada if he gets elected at least to give me a little while longer with the family...

He did not "tear off" the American flag. They painted a new one on. His campaign has shown the flag in many places. Obama's plane logo on the tail at least has nationalist symbolism. John McCain's says one thing: "John McCain." Come on, people. It doesn't matter what it says on the tail of the plane. Both of them intend to present a positive message. If you have to look in the tea leaves to see the difference between the candidates, maybe you should sit out this election.

ANYONE who believes that Obama's messages and intentions are innocent and uncalculated, is unbelievably naive . He does not honor the US flag, nor the plege of allegiance. He admits this without hesitation, explaining his reasons with light hearted blather. He has , indeed, many changes in mind for this country's people. Do you REALLY trust this man to protect the United States of America, forsaking all enemies?! This year's election should be held on April 1st....ALL FOOL'S DAY ! God help us.....................

Why is it that as soon as anyone becomes a serious contender for public office they are immediately demonized or canonized, depending on which side of the fence you are on? Because the spin doctors and rumor mills make these ordinary people seem like monsters and saints! Every move they make becomes a "symbol" or some sort of underhanded trick. Come on people! This is why I, and so many in my generation, are SICK of partisan politics. Everyone takes any little move seriously and suddenly the candidate goes from average joe to US-hating, Islamic fundamentalist, terrorist scum. I am an independent swing voter who sees good and bad moves on the side of both of these candidates. But its fanatics that take every rumor and spin as God's Honest Truth that may sway me to one candidate over the other more than anything!

plains, trains, automobiles. that was a fictional movie. this election on the other hand is real life.that is why we all get so wrapped up in "where did the flag go?" personally if the "man" wants to fly around in a pink and yellow poka-dotted crop duster, i can care less. what does interest me though is who is paying for said plain. also i was wondering if john mc cain or barak obama will be returning any of the walk-about money their compaigns have recieved from frannie mac or the other failed compaines to help out with the $700 billion bail out.
