In a surprising PR move, Eclipse Aviation is auctioning off one of its new Eclipse 500 very light jets – somewhat surprising since it claims to have sold over two years’ of production of the new plane.
As luxury products go, very light jets have had the lion’s share of press lately. Some notable mentions came from Popular Mechanics and Time.
The affordability of very light jets compared with an average sized private jet is a primary reason for the flurry of press; most jets slated for production will run from $1.2 million to $4 million.
Nine days left. Reserve price is 95% of the invoice, and there is one bid right now at $1,633,945.00. See the details here.
Before considering full-ownership of a very light jet, however, know your options; fractional ownership of a more luxurious private jet could be more economical. More on fractional ownership and charter cards in Helium Report’s Decision Guide to Private Jet Travel.
